As you may know (or dont' know) i am a crazed movie fan but sadly the theatres theese days are mostly spewing a steady stream of bullshit, so Independent Films are the way to go. This thread is especially made for the discussion and anticipation of Independent Films (duh). So to start it off, who went to the film festival? some of my favourites are (Read: MUST SEE FILMS) are:
A Prophet
Animal Kingdom
Persepolis
Lebanon
Waltz With Bashir
Let The Right One In
Mongol
City of Gods
Amelie
Battle of Algiers

Ofcourse i'd like to know you favourites, you got any post em here. plus i'll post trailers for upcoming Indie films and stuff Very Happy and if there are any interesting screenings in Academy Cinemas: http://www.academycinemas.co.nz/

Currently i'm interested in watching Tulpan check the thingy at RT: http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/tulpan/

@directorladyface01: vey subtle there. Since you like Animal Kingdom, may i suggest to you the City of Gods, one of the best crime films around

@Leaf Master FRINGE: technically Summer Wars is classed as anime, still awesome nonetheless, btw nose-bleed guy 4rm the film reminds me of you last year XP

Old school you say? Then the original saga of Star Wars has gotta be up there. They're so good. The new ones are prettier graphics wise but the originals are better movies as a whole.

Well you already have by saying that. Ghostbusters was a good movie, even if I can't remember half of it.

Ah yes Star Wars, the Pride and Joy of nerds all over the galaxy. There's 1 thing i dont like bout the original trilogy though, gotta to be the ewoks. They totaly ruin Return of The Jedi fo me. Anyway any Star Wars fan should go check out: www.darthsanddroids.net/ one of the best Star Wars related comic in the net, funny as azkaban.

I gotta be honest, i've never completely watched Ghosbusters to the end, there's always something distracting me.

Speaking of Old School Films, have anyone everseen the Seven Samurais, or it's Western remake? they are master pieces! i Also love Sergio Leone's films, Once Upon A Time in The West, A Fistfull of Dollars and The Good, The Bad and The Ugly are very good films.

Indiana Jones is Indeed a great series, tho i have to say the Last Crusade is the best, the second one wasnt particulary mindblowing tho. The 4th one is just bad, sure it got all the preety Hollywood effects, but it has no soul anymore.

@Constrosity: Thank You Sir.

Any If You Like Vikings and/or Medieval ooruo there are some movies to look out for Valhalla Rising (trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WcFOSfaCNec ) and Black Death (trailer: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vXycl0ohLto ). Personally i haven't seen any of the two though i'm quite eager to.
